Roads team nominated eight times at Scottish Transport Awards

South Lanarkshire Council has been nominated eight times at this year’s prestigious transport awards.
Colin Park, the council’s Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: “I am delighted that the many of our projects and innovative transport initiatives being delivered across our network are being recognised in this way.
“It is a reflection of just how much effort and innovation everyone is putting in to ensure that the very best transport infrastructure and facilities are being provided and introduced to make travel across South Lanarkshire as safe and effective as possible.”
Now in its 23rd year, the Scottish Transport Awards reflect the achievements of councils and transport providers, recognising the hard work and dedication of teams committed to improving transport for communities throughout Scotland.
The eight projects shortlisted under the following categories are:

- Data Led Road Safety and Casualty Reduction Programme
- Streetscape Management
Contribution to Sustainable Transport
- East Kilbride Active Travel Network – Connecting People and Places
Excellence in Technology and Innovation
- Winter Service Innovation: Smarter, Safer and More Sustainable
Excellence in Transport Design
- South Lanarkshire Council, SPT, Network Rail, Transport Scotland - Hairmyres Interchange
Best Practice in Transport Planning
- Local Transport Strategy: Exemplifying Best Practice in Transport Planning
- Delivering Best Practice in School Travel Planning and Road Safety
Transport Local Authority of the Year
- South Lanarkshire Council
Supported by the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, the Railway Industry Association and CPT Scotland, the awards ceremony will take place at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel on 11 June 2026.
This flagship event continues to play a vital role in bringing together the transport community, showcasing innovation, celebrating success and highlighting best practice.
